Today, State Representative Tom Morrison (R-Palatine) is congratulating Palatine’s Walter R. Sundling Junior High School for being named a National Blue Ribbon School. The school was recently recognized by U.S. Education Secretary Miguel Cardona for their honor, given to only 17 other schools in the state.
This award is given by the U.S. Education Department and is based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps.
“This is an exciting honor for one of our local schools, especially with how difficult the last few school years have been with COVID-19,” said Rep. Morrison. “This recognition is one to be celebrated by educators, administrators, parents and students.”
Representative Morrison will be honoring the school with a special Certificate of Recognition from the Illinois House of Representatives.
