The General Assembly will return to Springfield next week to resume legislative session.
State Rep. Tom Morrison (R-Palatine) recently filed legislation that provides clarification and limitation of an Illinois governor’s power to declare successive emergency orders beyond 30 days. “The legislature is a co-equal branch of government,” said Morrison. “It makes laws, and the Governor enforces those laws. The Governor should not be allowed to rule the state unilaterally for however long he or his team determine.”
