Morrison Appointed to Property Tax Relief Task Force

PALATINE…State Representative Tom Morrison (R-Palatine) was appointed to serve as a member on the Property Tax Relief Task Force.

Representative Morrison was appointed by House Republican Leader Jim Durkin and will join 14 of his Republican colleagues on the task force.

The Property Tax Relief Task Force will be examining the root causes of high property taxes across the state, assessing other states’ legislative solutions to reducing property tax burdens, and proposing policy changes to bring relief to Illinois homeowners.

“Illinois residents are desperate for property tax relief and this task force gives us an opportunity to provide that relief through real reforms,” said Morrison.  “I am eager to get to work to provide the solutions that our taxpayers need.  This task force is the best step forward to working through one of the biggest roadblocks to our state’s success.”

The bipartisan, bicameral group will be required to submit reports to the Governor and the General Assembly with short and long term solutions.  The first report will be submitted within 90 days, and the final report will be due by December 31, 2019.
